Java House Expands to Syokimau with New Outlet Targeting Growing Nairobi Metropolitan Demand

(L-R): Mohammed Ismail, Chairman, Syokimau Residents Association (SRA), Joshua Mutuku, Branch Manager, Java Syokimau, Sam Ondato, Service Team Member at Java Syokimau and Priscilla Gathungu, Group CEO, Java House, during the official launch of Java House’s new Syokimau branch, the casual dining brand’s 105th branch in East Africa.

Modern consumers are increasingly prioritizing convenience, access to global-quality offerings, and consistently high standards when choosing where to dine, according to Priscilla Gathungu, CEO of Java House Group.

Speaking during the launch of the brand’s newest outlet at Trafford Park in Syokimau, Gathungu said the company’s expansion strategy is firmly anchored on responding to these evolving customer expectations. She noted that as the Nairobi Metropolitan Area continues to grow, the company is deliberately positioning itself within key lifestyle and transit hubs to meet rising demand.

“As the Nairobi Metropolitan Area continues to expand, we are intentional about positioning ourselves within key lifestyle and transit hubs. Syokimau represents the kind of high-growth node in which we want to be first offering great food, coffee, and spaces where people can connect, work, and unwind,” she said.

The new outlet places Java House in one of Kenya’s fastest-growing urban zones, driven by major infrastructure developments such as the Standard Gauge Railway terminus and the Nairobi Expressway. A 2025 report by Kimisitu Investment Company shows rental occupancy in Syokimau rising from 70 percent in 2020 to over 90 percent in 2024, underscoring the area’s strong growth trajectory.

The branch, which becomes Java House’s 105th outlet in East Africa, also reflects the brand’s evolving identity through a contemporary design concept. The space incorporates locally sourced artwork inspired by the Syokimau community, reinforcing the company’s commitment to creating culturally rooted dining experiences.
