LG Launches Water-Saving Smart Dishwashers in Kenya as Smart Home Demand Surges
LG Electronics Head of Marketing, Jane Kariuki, East Africa Assistant Manager for Home Appliances, Faith Njoroge, and Head of Go-to-Market, Peter Wanjohi, discuss key features of the newly launched LG dishwasher range during the launch event in Nairobi on October 30, 2025.
LG Electronics has introduced a new line of high-performance, energy-efficient dishwashers in Kenya, expanding its smart home solutions portfolio and reinforcing its leadership in East Africa’s growing home appliances market.
The launch, held in Nairobi, unveiled three models, two stand-alone units in Matte Black and Platinum Silver, and one built-in variant all designed with local households in mind. The appliances address common challenges such as water scarcity, energy consumption, and limited kitchen space, offering up to 566% water savings compared to manual dishwashing.
Speaking during the launch, Jane Kariuki, LG Electronics East Africa Regional Marketing Head, underscored the company’s commitment to aligning innovation with local consumer needs.
“These products are the result of extensive market research and listening closely to what Kenyan families truly need,” said Kariuki. “We are introducing a new way of living, where smart technology becomes an essential partner in the home.”
The new models incorporate LG’s flagship TrueSteam technology, which uses high-temperature steam to eliminate stubborn stains and reduce water spots on glassware, ensuring a higher level of hygiene. The dishwashers also feature the Auto Open Dry function, which automatically opens the door after the wash cycle to aid drying and cut energy use by removing the need for heated drying.
Designed with efficiency and adaptability in mind, the range offers both built-in and freestanding options suited for diverse living spaces. Peter Wanjohi, LG’s Home Solutions Product Marketing Manager for East Africa, highlighted this versatility.
“These dishwashers are designed to blend into Kenyan homes and lives, with the built-in options for space-conscious layouts and the freestanding variants for households that need flexibility,” said Wanjohi.
Industry analysts note that while Kenya’s dishwasher market is still nascent, it is rapidly gaining momentum, fueled by urbanization, rising disposable incomes, and a shift toward time-saving household technologies. LG’s localization of its product design and functionality positions the company to capture early leadership in this growing segment.
For LG, the launch reflects more than innovation, it signals a broader push toward sustainability and eco-friendly manufacturing. The company confirmed that all three dishwasher models meet European Union energy efficiency standards and are made from recyclable materials, supporting Kenya’s Vision 2030 goals for green growth and sustainable urban living.
Kariuki reaffirmed LG’s commitment to environmentally responsible innovation, noting that the company’s global and local objectives are closely aligned.
“We are proud to deliver products that not only make everyday life easier but also contribute to a sustainable future,” she said.
With local distribution already underway through LG Brand Shops, major electronics retailers, and online platforms, the new dishwashers are targeting both residential consumers and commercial buyers such as property developers, hotels, and serviced apartments.
LG has recorded double-digit growth in its home appliances division in Kenya for three consecutive years, and the company expects the new dishwasher line to accelerate this upward trajectory as the smart home revolution continues to reshape modern living.
