Nairobi, Kenya, August 20, 2025 – The government has committed to accelerate the rehabilitation of Bomet Stadium ahead of APS Bomet FC’s historic debut in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF-PL) next month.

APS Bomet, newly promoted from the National Super League, is set to mark its first season in Kenya’s top-flight football competition, a milestone that has sparked renewed interest in sporting infrastructure within Bomet County.

The stadium, which has long served as the club’s home ground, is earmarked for major refurbishment works to meet premier league standards and support other sporting disciplines such as athletics.

Speaking during the club’s fundraising dinner at a Nairobi hotel, Interior Cabinet Secretary and club patron Kipchumba Murkomen assured fans and stakeholders of the government’s full backing.

He underscored the urgency of upgrading the facility to enable the team to host matches locally and to serve as a hub for nurturing sporting talent in the region.

“Bomet Stadium must be elevated to a level that reflects the aspirations of our youth and the competitive nature of the premier league,” Murkomen said. “This project is not only about football but also about investing in the community and creating opportunities for growth.”

In the meantime, APS Bomet will play its home matches at the Kericho Greens Stadium as renovation works get underway. Murkomen also disclosed that President William Ruto is set to fulfil his earlier promise of donating a bus to the team, a boost that will ease players’ logistics during the season.

The club’s board chairman, Bishop Fred Akama, outlined the team’s ambitious target of winning the FKF Premier League title within their first three seasons.

Under head coach Michael Nam, the team has reinforced its squad with 10 new signings and has been in residential training camp at Kericho Teachers Training College for the past three weeks.

APS Bomet’s premier league campaign kicks off on September 21, 2025, with a clash against Shabana FC at the Gusii Stadium.
