Ogilvy Africa Launches HerFolio to Bridge Gender Gap in Creative Industry

Michelle Ndebele (C) of Voi Jewellery presents her creations to Delna Sethna, Ogilvy Africa’s chief Creative Officer and Adrian Jankowiak, Nairobi Design Week’s Founder (L) at Nairobi Design Week 2025, held at The Waterfront Karen.

The Ogilvy Africa Network has unveiled HerFolio, a groundbreaking platform aimed at empowering female creatives across the continent.

Launched during Nairobi Design Week, the initiative seeks to address the gender opportunity gap in the creative industry by providing a dedicated space for women to showcase their talent and connect with potential opportunities.

Research highlights a stark reality: 75% of female creatives do not receive the same career opportunities as their male counterparts, and an equal percentage struggle to access high-paying projects—not due to a lack of skill, but because of systemic barriers.

HerFolio aims to dismantle these obstacles by offering an interactive online platform where female designers, musicians, performing artists, fine artists, and other creatives can exhibit their work in multiple formats, including high-resolution videos, images, and audio files.

By amplifying visibility and fostering connections, the platform aspires to reshape the industry landscape and create a more inclusive space for African women in the creative sector.
