Suspects Arrested After Deadly Disruption of UDA Meeting in Embu
Detectives in Embu have launched investigations into the violent disruption of a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) delegates’ meeting at Nembure Grounds, with two suspects already arrested in connection with the deadly incident.
The confrontation occurred during a political meeting presided over by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and attended by several national and county government leaders.
The violence reportedly escalated as groups of youths engaged police officers in running battles, disrupting the meeting and forcing security officers to intervene to restore order.
One person was killed during the unrest, while several police officers sustained injuries. Several vehicles were also torched as the confrontation intensified.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said two suspects had been arrested as detectives stepped up efforts to identify and apprehend other people believed to have been involved in the violence.
Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the disruption and the criminal acts reported during the clashes. More arrests are expected as detectives continue gathering evidence and recording statements from witnesses.
The incident has raised fresh concerns over political gatherings turning violent, particularly where rival groups resort to confrontation instead of resolving their differences through peaceful means.

The agency said political affiliation, personal grievances or differences over political issues do not place anyone above the law.
It further warned that individuals suspected of attacking other people, assaulting police officers, destroying property, setting vehicles on fire or blocking public roads would face legal action.

Police have urged anyone with information that could assist investigators to come forward as efforts continue to bring those responsible for the unrest to justice.
