Murkomen, who toured several projects in the region, said the Government was determined to ensure the celebrations leave behind a lasting development legacy for residents.
In Eldoret, the CS assessed the construction of the Kipchoge Keino Stadium and the modernisation of the 64 Stadium.

“The 15,000-seater Kipchoge Keino Stadium is the first international stadium outside Nairobi. It is now 58 percent complete and will host the main Mashujaa Day celebration”. said Murkomen

Murkomen also highlighted the ongoing improvement of the Eldoret-Kapsabet road network, construction of the Kapsabet County Referral Hospital, student hostels, affordable housing units and a modern market among the projects expected to benefit residents.
The CS said the Government would continue monitoring the projects to ensure contractors meet the set timelines and that the facilities are delivered to the required standards.
The 2026 Mashujaa Day celebrations are expected to bring together national leaders, dignitaries and thousands of Kenyans in the North Rift region.
Murkomen was accompanied during the inspection by Interior Principal Secretary Dr Raymond Omollo, Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii, Nandi Governor Stephen Sang, Elgeyo marakwet Governor Wisley Rotich, Senator William Kisang, Uasin Gishu Woman Representative Gladys Shollei, Soy MP David Kiplagat, Keiyo North MP Adams Kipsanai, Rift Valley Regional Commissioner Abdi Hassan and other national and county government officials.
