Viral Video Turns to Blessing: Disabled Preacher From Nyamira Gifted Wheelchair in Eldoret

What started as a simple video of a father singing with his daughter has turned into a life-changing blessing for a disabled evangelist from Nyamira.

Evangelist Richard Nyamunyamu, a physically challenged preacher who went viral after a clip of him singing alongside his young daughter in Kapsowar, has been gifted a modern motorized wheelchair to ease his mobility and support his ministry.

The emotional handover ceremony took place in Eldoret, where a group of well-wishers from Uasin Gishu County came together to present the wheelchair to the preacher.

According to the donors, the wheelchair is meant to help Nyamunyamu move around with ease as he continues to spread the gospel and nurture his passion for singing.

“We are presenting this chair to Mister Richard Nyamunyamu so that it is going to be helpful to him moving around, spreading the gospel and doing what he likes best, that is singing,” one of the organizers said during the handover.

“The generosity which has been shown today by Wareng… we really appreciate our members and we urge members of the public wherever they are, whenever you get a case like Evangelist Richard, we should come out and assist.”

Among those who spoke was Dan Meli, a resident of Uasin Gishu, who said the gift was a perfect recognition for Richard’s fatherly love and dedication to his children. He referenced the viral video where Richard was seen encouraging his daughter to sing, saying that fatherly love is what enabled the girl to perform well in Kapsowar.

“It is a lesson for all parents, just be there for your kids. In The case of Richard, he went there, welcomed the girl to sing together, that fatherly love is enough for that girl to perform very well,” Meli said.

Dr. Musa Kiptanui, also a resident of Uasin Gishu, and Winnie Ndalut, a resident of Eldoret, were among the well-wishers who witnessed the handover. They praised the community spirit and called on more Kenyans to support people living with disabilities in their communities.

An overwhelmed Nyamunyamu could not hide his joy as he tested his new wheelchair for the first time. Surrounded by the donors on a grassy field in Eldoret, he moved around with a broad smile, marking a new chapter in his life.

“Mine is to say thank you. God bless you. You have done wonders to my life. You have changed my life from walking down and now I’m sitting in a wheelchair. It is a wonderful thing you have done,” said an emotional Richard Nyamunyamu, who hails from Nyamira.

The story of Richard is a testament to how social media can be a powerful tool for good. From a video of him singing with his daughter, Kenyans were touched by his resilience despite his physical challenges, leading to an outpouring of love that has now given him dignity of movement and renewed hope to continue his evangelism.
