Chema Complete Fairytale Run With Final Berth

Debutants Chema VC continued their fairytale run by securing a place in the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) Men’s National League final after defeating seasoned campaigners Kenya Prisons 3-1 (25-19, 25-22, 16-25, 25-19) in the semifinal playoffs at the Kasarani Indoor Arena in Nairobi on Sunday.

Playing in the National League for the first time after earning promotion from Division Two this season, Chema produced another impressive display to book a date with Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), who overcame Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) in the other semifinal.

Kenya Prisons will now face KDF in the third-place playoff.

Chema head coach Jeremiah Mukopi made two changes to his starting lineup, handing promising setter Stephen Omondi the nod ahead of Kennedy Mugo, while Trivor Omondi replaced Ayueni Mach at middle blocker.

National team Wafalme Stars middle blocker Levis Ogutu thrilled fans with his powerful attacks, while Moses Kamau’s devastating jump serves inspired Chema to dominate the opening two sets.

Kenya Prisons fought back strongly to claim the third set, but Chema quickly regained control in the fourth, maintaining their composure to seal a memorable victory and continue their dream debut season with a place in the championship final.
