Ngeera, Cherono Lead as Coast Junior Open Heads to Final Round

Justin Ngeera and Cherono Kipkorir will take slender leads into the final round of the fourth NCBA Coast Junior Open following the conclusion of the second round at the Nyali Golf & Country Club.
Ngeera, representing Vet Lab Sports Club, returned a superb two-under-par 69 to move to a two-day total of six-over-par 148, giving him a two-shot advantage at the top of the boys’ leaderboard.
Ghana’s Kingsley Afful, who led after the opening round, slipped to second place after carding a 76 for a total of 150. Sigona Golf Club’s Maahir Patel is third on 151, while Myles Wahome of Vet Lab remains in contention at 153 after rounds of 76 and 77.

In the girls’ category, Cherono Kipkorir of Royal Nairobi Golf Club carded a steady 78 to maintain the lead at 159, two shots ahead of Maryam Mwakitawa of Sigona. Nyawira Macharia is still within striking distance at 164.
A total of 33 players and ties made the cut and will feature in the final round as the battle for honours reaches its climax.
The tournament is part of the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) and also contributes points to the Junior Golf Foundation Order of Merit.
Backed by NCBA Group, the event has attracted a strong field of juniors, with a closely contested finish expected in the final round.
