Uganda’s junior athletics team is currently in a residential training camp at the Complete Sports Training Camp in Kaptagat, Kenya, as part of preparations for the 2026 World Athletics U20 Championships in Oregon.
The 2026 World Athletics U20 Championships (formerly known as the World Junior Championships) will take place from August 5 to August 9 2026, at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, USA.
According to coach Immaculate Chemutai, the camp is providing the young athletes with a conducive environment to sharpen their fitness, endurance, and technical skills ahead of the global competition.
Chemutai expressed gratitude to Uganda Athletics for its continued support in developing the country’s emerging talent.
“A heartfelt thank you to Uganda Athletics for your unwavering support and commitment to nurturing the next generation of athletes. Your investment in these young talents is helping shape the future of athletics in Uganda,” she said in a post on her Facebook page.
She added that the federation’s commitment to youth development is laying a strong foundation for future success on the international stage.

The high-altitude training camp in Kaptagat, renowned for producing world-class distance runners, is expected to give the Ugandan juniors valuable exposure and optimal preparation before they head to Oregon.
