King Kanja Drops ‘Daima Mkenya’ Anthem Celebrating Kenyan Identity

Kenyan US-based recording artist King Kanja has released a new single titled Daima Mkenya, an Afro-fusion anthem celebrating Kenyan identity, culture, and national pride.

The track, which debuted on April 24, 2026, is now available on YouTube and major streaming platforms, marking what the artist describes as a unifying cultural moment for Kenyans both locally and in the diaspora.

Translated as “Forever Kenyan,” Daima Mkenyablends Afro-beats, Afro-pop, and R&B, featuring a mix of Swahili and English lyrics. The release is accompanied by a visually compelling music video directed by Steve Mugo, with additional vocals from Bwanangoma. The production captures Kenya’s diverse landscapes from the highlands to the coastb while maintaining global appeal.

Speaking during the release, King Kanja described the project as more than just music, noting that it represents a broader movement to inspire pride among Kenyans worldwide.

The artist, who was born and raised in Kenya, has built an international career spanning several continents. He has previously appeared on 106 & Park and released the collaborative EP Foreign Exchange with Bobby V in 2023. Over the years, he has shared stages with global stars including Beenie Man, Shaggy, Rick Ross, Akon, and Wyclef Jean. He also performed at the final state event of former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The release coincides with a collaboration between the artist and Daima Mkenya Africa, a Nairobi-based fashion brand promoting national pride. The partnership merges music and fashion as creative tools to express Kenyan identity on the global stage.

Operating under the tagline “Born Here. Worn Everywhere,” the brand produces apparel using 100 percent Kenyan cotton, supporting local farmers, weavers, and artisans. Its designs incorporate Kenya’s national colours black, red, green, and white alongside traditional beadwork, positioning it within the country’s growing “Made in Kenya” movement.

The collaboration highlights a shared vision to celebrate Kenyan heritage while amplifying homegrown talent and creativity beyond borders.
