Jambojet clarifies flight disruptions, says normal operations to resume

Jambojet has clarified that its staff did not participate in the recent industrial action that disrupted flight operations at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and other airports across the country.
The airline said the industrial action involving Air Traffic Control (ATC) staff has since been called off, allowing airlines to begin clearing the resulting flight backlog.
In a statement issued on September 1, Jambojet said its flight crews, ground personnel and customer support teams remained on duty throughout the disruption and continued supporting passengers affected by the delays.
The airline dismissed reports linking its employees to the industrial action, insisting that its staff neither participated in the strike nor engaged in a go-slow.
Jambojet distances staff from KAWU
Jambojet also clarified its relationship with the Kenya Aviation Workers Union (KAWU), saying it does not have a recognition agreement with the union.
“As such, KAWU cannot represent and/or negotiate on behalf of its staff,” the airline said.
The clarification comes amid disruptions that affected flight schedules at JKIA and other airports, leaving passengers facing delays and changes to their travel plans.
Backlog being cleared
According to Jambojet, its teams are currently working to clear the backlog created during the disruption and restore normal flight schedules.
The airline warned passengers to expect some continued delays as operations are gradually restored.
It said it anticipated resuming normal scheduled operations by Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
The carrier further assured affected passengers that it had put measures in place to ease the impact of the disruptions.
Free rebooking for affected passengers
Jambojet said passengers whose flights were affected would be allowed to rebook their travel at no additional cost.
The airline also said its customer service and communications teams were providing regular updates through SMS and email to keep passengers informed about changes to their flights.
In addition, Jambojet said its customer service centre remained operational around the clock to handle inquiries and provide clarification to affected travellers.
