Crackdown on Gangs to Intensify says Murkomen.

Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has warned that the government will escalate its crackdown on criminal gangs and politically instigated violence across the country.

Murkomen said Kenya remains largely secure from major threats, but expressed concern over a surge in goonism linked to some political actors, cautioning leaders against exploiting young people to fuel unrest.

“We have made a firm decision that we are not going to condone the use of young people to fight others and cause chaos in the country,” he said.

The CS revealed that hundreds of suspects have already been arrested and arraigned in court, citing intensified operations in Kitale and other hotspots.

He noted that security agencies have been placed on high alert, with firm instructions to sustain the crackdown until criminal networks are dismantled.

“We will continue with the crackdown to ensure that this nation remains safe,” he added.

Murkomen spoke while accompanying President William Ruto at the Africa Gospel Church sanctuary in Karen.
