Compliance as Ritz-Carlton Masai Mara Dispute Moves Through Courts
November 26, 2025- Lazizi Mara Limited has broken its silence over the growing public debate surrounding The Ritz-Carlton Masai Mara Safari Camp, confirming that the matter is currently before the Environment and Land Court under Petition No. E003 of 2025.
The company says it has already filed a detailed response supported by extensive documentation, including all correspondence with Narok County dating back to 2023 on the lease application, the official approval letter, the lease agreement, an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report demonstrating public participation, and letters from both NEMA and Narok County affirming its compliance and adherence to due process.
In its statement, the firm clarified that the petitioner is fully aware that The Ritz-Carlton is neither the owner nor the operator of the camp. Lazizi Mara Limited is the developer and operator behind the project, with the luxury hotel brand only providing a licence.
The company further noted that although the petition was filed in August, the petitioner has yet to serve all respondents named in the suit a delay Lazizi Mara Limited says has unnecessarily slowed the judicial process.
Lazizi Mara Limited added that both The Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott conducted their own rigorous, independent due diligence before issuing brand licences for the project, and the company continues to enjoy their full support as the case proceeds.
Reaffirming its confidence in the courts, the company said it will refrain from further public commentary and allow the legal process to take its course, pledging continued compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
