Heineken® 0.0 Doubles Investment in Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon with Ksh 10 Million Sponsorship
NAIROBI, October 3, 2025 – Kenya Wine Agencies Limited (KWAL), through its zero-alcohol beer brand Heineken® 0.0, has renewed its partnership with the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon (SCNM) with a Ksh 10 million sponsorship for the 2025 edition — double last year’s contribution.
The announcement was made during the marathon sponsors’ breakfast event in Nairobi, marking Heineken® 0.0’s second major sponsorship since its launch in the Kenyan market in 2022. Under the renewed collaboration, KWAL will sponsor the 21-kilometre half-marathon through its non-alcoholic beer and cider brands, Heineken® 0.0 and Savanna 0.0, respectively.
KWAL’s Head of Marketing, Dr. Senorine Wasike, said the increased investment reflects the company’s commitment to promoting wellness and responsible drinking habits. “KWAL is pleased to partner with the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon to encourage Kenyans to adopt healthier lifestyles through physical activity and sports. Our non-alcoholic range is designed to support wellness while offering a premium refreshment experience,” she said.
Dr. Wasike emphasized that the partnership also complements KWAL’s broader social impact agenda, notably through the Futuremakers Program, an initiative linked to the marathon that promotes economic inclusion for disadvantaged youth. “The marathon is not just a premier sporting event but also a platform for community development and social transformation. It aligns perfectly with Heineken® 0.0’s values of health, wellness, and positive living,” she added.
Prudence Mutembei, KWAL’s Senior Brand Manager for beers, highlighted the growing demand for non-alcoholic beverages in Kenya, particularly among young adults seeking balance between social engagement and wellness. “We are witnessing a significant shift, especially among Gen Z and professionals, who are choosing low or zero-alcohol options while maintaining active social lives,” she noted.
Mutembei added that Heineken® 0.0’s zero-alcohol content and lower calorie count make it an ideal choice for fitness-conscious consumers. “Our brand allows consumers to enjoy a high-quality beer experience without compromising their health or workout routines,” she said.
The 2025 Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon is expected to attract thousands of runners and spectators, reinforcing its status as one of Kenya’s leading athletic and community events. KWAL’s renewed sponsorship underscores the growing connection between sports, wellness, and responsible lifestyle choices in Kenya’s beverage industry.
