NATIONAL ASSEMBLY LEADERSHIP RETREATS TO MOMBASA FOR STRATEGIC CONSULTATIONS
By Wendy Sheilla
The National Assembly Speaker, Hon. (Dr.) Moses Wetang’ula, has convened the House leadership in Mombasa for the 3rd Parliamentary Leadership Retreat, marking the third such gathering since the inauguration of the 13th Parliament.
The high-level session brings together PSC Commissioners, Members of the Speaker’s Panel, Committee Chairs and their Deputies, KEWOPA representatives, Women Representatives from all 47 counties, and a section of legislators from the Budget Committee.
The retreat serves as a consultative platform aimed at strengthening institutional synergy, fostering collaborative leadership, and ensuring the National Assembly remains responsive in discharging its constitutional mandate.
Speaker Wetang’ula emphasized the importance of such forums in enhancing parliamentary unity, accountability, and strategic focus, noting that a cohesive leadership team is key to addressing the pressing social, political, and economic issues facing the nation.
The Mombasa retreat is expected to chart a roadmap for improved legislative performance, reinforce oversight responsibilities, and explore strategies for strengthening citizen engagement in parliamentary processes.
