Faith Kipyegon confirms hamstring injury, vows to return stronger

World champion Faith Kipyegon has confirmed that she is recovering from a hamstring injury and will take more time away from competition as she focuses on making a full recovery.

In a message posted on her Facebook page, Kipyegon said the injury has troubled her since the end of May and has taken longer to heal than she initially expected.

Kipyegon opened her season with victory in the Monaco 10km road race in February, clocking 29:47. She then returned to Diamond League action in Shanghai, where she won the women’s 5000m in 14:24.14.

Her next appearances, however, produced less impressive results. She finished third in the mile at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene in 4:17.80 before placing fourth in the 3000m at the Monaco Diamond League meeting in 8:24.21.

she is going to mis ultimate championships which she was so much ready for it until her injury interrupted preparations.

The three-time Olympic champion acknowledged the physical demands placed on elite athletes, saying there is often a fine line between achieving peak fitness and exposing the body to injury.

Rather than rushing her comeback, Kipyegon said she has chosen to give her body the time it needs to heal properly.

“For now, I will take the time to heal, recover and get stronger,” she said.

The 32-year-old 1500m star, regarded as one of the greatest middle-distance runners of all time, ended her message with a reassuring declaration to her fans:

“I’ll be back.”
