Over 17,000 Register as Nairobi City Marathon Launches Fifth Edition
The fifth edition of the Nairobi City Marathon was officially launched on Thursday, with organizers promising a bigger and more exciting race experience as over 17,000 participants have already registered.
Speaking during the launch, Barnabas Korir said this year’s event will once again give runners a unique opportunity to race along Kenya’s iconic Expressway, the only marathon route of its kind in the country.
Korir noted that the marathon has continued to grow into a major global sporting event that not only promotes athletics and fitness, but also boosts tourism and community engagement in the capital.
“This year’s marathon promises a unique racing experience on Kenya’s iconic Expressway. The event continues to position Nairobi as a global destination for athletics, fitness, tourism and community engagement while celebrating the vibrant spirit and energy of our city,” he said.
The marathon is expected to attract both elite and amateur athletes from across the world, further cementing Nairobi’s reputation as a leading athletics destination.
Organizers say this year’s edition will feature several race categories and activities aimed at promoting healthy living, inclusivity and urban sports tourism.
