UDA Issues Nomination Certificates, Affirms Credible Digital Primaries

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has issued nomination certificates to winners of its recently concluded primaries in Emurua Dikirr Constituency, Poro Ward in Samburu County, and Endo Ward in Elgeyo Marakwet County, marking a key step in preparations for upcoming by-elections.

Speaking during the event, the party’s Secretary General Hassan Omar Hassan lauded the nomination process as free, fair, and transparent, crediting the use of technology for enhancing credibility and efficiency. He noted that UDA is among the first political parties in Kenya to adopt electronic voting in its nominations, significantly reducing errors and disputes.

Omar congratulated the successful candidates while urging those who lost in the tightly contested races to remain within the party and support the winners. He emphasized the importance of party unity, noting that UDA is focused on winning all available seats and strengthening its grassroots support.

He further highlighted the party’s strong performance in recent by-elections, expressing confidence that the newly nominated candidates would secure victories. “We are not in the business of losing elections,” he said, pointing to past wins as evidence of the party’s growing influence.

The Secretary General also called on candidates to run issue-based campaigns aligned with the party’s development agenda, including housing, healthcare, food security, and economic growth, while remaining accountable to voters.

Making his remarks,Jackson Mandago, the Senator for Uasin Gishu County, underscored the importance of party discipline, urging members to remain in good standing through active participation and consistent contributions. He emphasized that strong political parties rely on committed membership, stating, “You belong to a political party, you must be a member in good standing.”

The Senator commended the party’s National Elections Board for strengthening internal democracy, highlighting the shift to electronic voting as a major milestone. He observed that the adoption and continuous improvement of technology in nominations has enhanced transparency, minimized errors, and positioned the party as a benchmark for credible primaries not only in Kenya but across the region.

Mandago further challenged the newly nominated candidates to align with the party’s manifesto and deliver on its development agenda once elected. He emphasized that leadership comes with the responsibility of translating campaign promises into tangible results, urging candidates to foster unity by working with former rivals and focusing on service delivery to constituents.

UDA reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening internal democracy through continuous improvement of its nomination systems, positioning itself as a model for transparent political processes in Kenya.
