- Introduction of a dual certification pathway combining academic study and CHRP qualification
- Â Initiative aims to align education with industry needs and improve graduate employability
- Candidates can now graduate with both academic and professional credentials
- Exams held across multiple centres, reflecting rising demand for HR certification in Kenya
More than 2,000 candidates have sat for the April 2026 examination series administered by the Human Resource Management Professionals Examinations Board, marking a significant rise in participation and the debut of a dual certification pathway.
The initiative allows a section of candidates to pursue the Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) qualification alongside their university and college studies, enabling them to graduate with both academic and professional credentials.
The dual certification model is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements by integrating professional training into existing education systems. This approach equips students with practical competencies while still in school, enhancing their readiness for the job market.
By eliminating the need to wait until after graduation to begin professional certification, the pathway is expected to boost employability and produce graduates with both theoretical knowledge and recognized professional expertise.
According to HRMPEB Chief Executive Officer Margaret Nguu, the initiative represents a progressive shift in developing the HR profession in Kenya. She noted that the model strengthens the link between education and practice, ensuring graduates are more competitive and aligned with evolving industry needs.
Exams were conducted across key centres including Nairobi, Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret, Mombasa, Thika, Nyeri, Kakamega and Nanyuki, underscoring growing national uptake of HR certification and innovative training pathways.
