KTB, Visa and Kenya Airways Launch Discounted Travel Campaign to Boost Tourism

Nairobi, March 30, 2026 — The Kenya Tourism Board (KTB), Visa Inc. and Kenya Airways have unveiled a joint travel campaign offering discounted flights in a move aimed at stimulating tourism and enhancing Kenya’s global destination appeal.

The six-month campaign, running from April to September 2026 and kicking off during the Easter holiday period, will see travelers enjoy reduced fares when booking Kenya Airways flights using Visa cards. Customers will receive a 5 percent discount on local flights and up to 8 percent off inbound international travel by applying the promo code VISAKQ at checkout.

KTB Chief Executive Officer said the partnership is designed to strengthen Kenya’s competitiveness as a leading tourism destination through innovative and data-driven marketing strategies. She noted that the collaboration will enable the three partners to jointly roll out targeted campaigns in both domestic and international markets, leveraging their combined platforms and reach to grow visitor numbers and enhance destination visibility.

A key pillar of the initiative is the integration of data and analytics to drive decision-making. By tapping into Visa’s global insights on travel and spending patterns, KTB and Kenya Airways are expected to refine marketing strategies, improve resource allocation and better position Kenya in key source markets.

Visa’s Senior Vice President and Group Country Manager for Southern and Eastern Africa, Michael Berner, said the campaign will also support small and medium-sized enterprises within the tourism value chain by promoting the adoption of digital payment solutions. He added that seamless card payments across travel touchpoints will enhance convenience for visitors while unlocking growth opportunities for businesses.

On his part, Kenya Airways Chief Commercial and Customer Officer, Julius Thairu, said the airline remains committed to making travel more accessible and rewarding. He noted that the campaign offers added value to customers while encouraging the uptake of secure digital payments across its booking platforms.

The initiative builds on an ongoing partnership between Visa and KTB focused on strengthening Kenya’s tourism ecosystem through enhanced payment accessibility and data-driven insights. As part of the collaboration, KTB will also benefit from Visa’s Government Insights Hub, which provides detailed data on traveler behavior, spending trends and seasonal patterns.

Beyond discounted travel, the partners plan to introduce loyalty programmes and innovative payment solutions aimed at boosting both domestic and international tourism spending. The collaboration will also promote wider adoption of digital payments across the tourism sector, improve cross-border transactions and support integrated marketing campaigns targeting priority markets across Africa and beyond.
