Kalonzo Nominated as Wiper Patriotic Front’s 2027 Presidential Candidate

Wiper Party leader Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka acknowledges applause after receiving his certificate of nomination as the party’s 2027 presidential candidate during the Wiper Patriotic Front National Delegates Conference held at Uhuru Park, Nairobi, on October 10, 2025

The Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) has officially endorsed its party leader, Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, as the presidential candidate for the 2027 General Election during the party’s National Delegates Conference (NDC) held at Uhuru Park, Nairobi.

In a colourful and highly charged event attended by delegates from across the country, the party also adopted major constitutional amendments, unveiled a new name, and launched a redesigned emblem to signal a new phase of political renewal and unity ahead of the polls.

The revised constitution, presented by the National Elections Board, introduced standardised party documents including the Pledge of Commitment, Nomination Form, Winner’s Certificate, and Oath of Office, among others, aimed at promoting transparency and consistency in internal elections.

The delegates unanimously adopted the reforms after a proposal and seconding process that underscored the party’s democratic procedures.

“By adopting these rules, we position WPF as a modern, disciplined and forward-looking party ready to lead Kenya into the next phase of democratic growth,” said one of the delegates.

The highlight of the day came as WPF Secretary General, Senator Shakila Abdala, presented a motion empowering the party leader to negotiate and fill key coalition positions with the approval of the National Executive Council in preparation for 2027.

“Today we stand together to renew our resolve and chart a bold new course for Kenya,” said Abdala. “Under the leadership of Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, our movement has stood for justice, peace, and integrity for nearly two decades. As we look to 2027, leadership demands renewal.”

She announced that the party had adopted a new identity, the Wiper
Patriotic Front, with an emblem of an open umbrella in earthy red, white, and royal blue colours — symbolizing dependability, understanding, and hope.

“We are rebranding, reorganizing and reigniting a patriotic flame in every Kenyan heart,” she added. “The new name and symbol reflect our unity and our resolve for justice and progress.”

The resolution to nominate Dr. Musyoka as presidential flagbearer was carried unanimously amid cheers and chants from delegates who declared, “KALONZO IN!” — a slogan symbolizing resilience and political renewal.

Taking to the podium to accept the nomination, Dr. Musyoka expressed gratitude and pledged to lead a people-centred campaign anchored on unity, justice, and hope.

“With a deep sense of duty and high resolve, I accept your nomination to be your presidential candidate for the 2027 General Election,” he said.
“I accept it with a full and grateful heart  without reservation and with only one obligation: to devote every effort of body, mind and spirit to lead this exceptional Patriotic Front to victory and restore hope and stability to our beloved nation.”

He thanked God for His guidance, his wife Pauline and their family for unwavering support, and the delegates for their trust. He also acknowledged the presence of national figures who attended as special observers, among them Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua, Democratic Action Party leader Eugene Wamalwa, and former National Assembly Speaker JB Muturi.

Their attendance, he said, was a testament to a growing sense of national unity and the desire to steer the country toward inclusive leadership.

Dr. Musyoka called on Kenyans to rise above political divisions and work together to rebuild the nation, pledging that his administration would prioritise honesty, opportunity, and constitutionalism.

“The time for lamentation is over. The moment for change is now,” he said. “This movement is about the people of Kenya  their families, their children, and the future of this nation. Together we shall build a Kenya where leadership is honest, justice is real, and every child is safe.”

He saluted farmers, traders, boda boda riders, and the youth for their resilience, describing them as “the true backbone of the country.”

“From Lamu to Kiambu, Nairobi to Kisumu, Turkana to Mombasa, all Kenyans deserve dignity, justice, and honest leadership,” he declared.

In his remarks, a senior party member, Zein Abubakar, praised Kalonzo’s consistency and integrity, describing him as “a patriot who has never betrayed the people of Kenya.”

“Our leader has dedicated his life to the service of this nation,” said Abubakar. “He has restored hope where there was hopelessness and remains committed to justice and unity.”

The former Vice President also took aim at what he termed as poor governance and erosion of devolution under the current administration, urging county leaders to remain firm in defending the constitutional structure.

“We must hold together. Any of us betraying this confidence will stand judged by future generations,” he said. “We will multiply our strength, and by 2027, we shall be more than 30 governors under this movement.”

Dr. Musyoka concluded his speech with a rallying call for unity and faith in the nation’s democratic future.

“At great personal cost, I have stood the test of time,” he said. “We are all going to stand together  the last men and women standing for justice and hope. May God bless the Wiper Patriotic Front, and may God bless Kenya.”
