DCI Launches Probe into Disappearance of Former Minister Raphael Tuju
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has started looking into the reported disappearance of former Cabinet Minister Raphael Tuju. This follows a missing person report filed at Karen Police Station.
According to a statement on the agency’s official X account, Tuju’s family reported him missing on Sunday, March 22, 2026. His vehicle was later found abandoned on Miotoni Lane in Karen, with its hazard lights on. A security guard from a nearby institution alerted authorities, prompting officers from Karen Police Station to respond quickly.
Crime Scene Investigators processed the scene before towing the vehicle to the station for forensic examination.
So far, efforts to reach Tuju have been unsuccessful. His mobile phone is reportedly switched off. The DCI has deployed a specialized investigative team, working with other government agencies to find out his whereabouts and the circumstances of his disappearance.
However, the agency noted some challenges in the investigation. Investigators were denied access to Tuju’s home on Mwitu Drive by family members. The DCI has urged full cooperation from everyone involved, including allowing investigators access to relevant locations and providing timely information to help with the investigation.
The agency has also asked members of the public who have any information about Tuju’s whereabouts or movements especially in the Miotoni Lane area and greater Karen before, during, or after March 21 to come forward.
Information can be shared confidentially through the DCI toll-free line 0800 722 222, WhatsApp number 0709 570 000, or at the nearest police station.
Investigations are ongoing, with the DCI promising to provide updates as significant developments arise.
