Nairobi, Kenya – October 01, 2025 -United Progressive Alliance (UPA) candidate Sam Ratenko Kotiende has declared his bid for Member of Parliament in Kasipul, promising to restore peace and development in a constituency long divided by political violence and infighting.
Speaking to the press on Thursday in Nairobi, Kotiende emphasized why he chose UPA for his political bid.
“I chose UPA because it is clean, free of corruption and violence. Kasipul needs a fresh start, and I want to help deliver that,” he said, also praising UPA presidential candidate Dr. Fred Matiang’i as a reformer with a proven track record.
Kotiende’s manifesto focuses on education, empowerment, and agriculture. He pledged to abolish politicized bursaries, pushing instead for funds to be sent directly to schools to make education free and fair. He also promised to expand vocational training for youth and support women through fairer financial opportunities.
On agriculture, Kotiende vowed to restore Kasipul as Nyanza’s breadbasket by providing free fertilizer and grains to farmers. He also outlined plans to reduce water costs by investing in borehole equipment and to rehabilitate roads using locally owned graders.
Addressing insecurity, Kotiende said he is the “peacemaker” Kasipul needs.
“Violence here is not innate—it is created by poor leadership. Within one month of my leadership, peace will return to Kasipul.”
He further expressed confidence in his development agenda, saying,
“My manifesto is not just about promises, it is about practical solutions. From education to agriculture, from empowering women and youth to creating jobs, everything I have outlined is achievable and will transform Kasipul for the better.”
