KAA Swiftly Responds to Grassland Fire Near JKIA, Airport Operations Unaffected

A fire broke out on the grasslands surrounding Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), prompting a swift response from the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) and emergency teams.

KAA confirmed that the incident is under control, with firefighting teams from the KAA Airport Rescue & Fire Fighting Service, the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF), and the Nairobi County Fire Unit working together to contain the blaze.

“The fire is limited to non-operational grassland areas and has not affected airport infrastructure, flights, or passenger services,” KAA stated, assuring travelers and stakeholders of continued normal operations.

Flight schedules, passenger processing, and cargo handling remain unaffected as authorities closely monitor the situation. KAA pledged to provide further updates as more information becomes available.
