The Fighting Brutality and Impunity (FBI) movement women leaders who identify as “FBI Queens” has vowed to intensify its fight against impunity and brutality, accusing rogue security officers and corrupt systems of targeting young people and silencing voices of justice.
Speaking to the press on Friday 5th at the Hill park hotel in Nairobi, the leader of the movement, Patrick Osoi, said the women-led group was not a militia but a collective of mothers, sisters, and leaders determined to protect communities from state violence.
“We are not criminals. We are not terrorists. We are not a militia. We are fearless, bold, independent women united to stand against injustice and demand accountability,” Osoi said.
He faulted the government for what he termed the normalization of unlawful orders, including the killing of young demonstrators aged between 17 and 22.
“The real threat is silence, and the real crime is indifference. We will not accept a system that puts a price tag on our children’s lives, offering compensation after murder instead of justice before the bullet,” he added.
Ms. Esther Njue one of the FBI queens echoed Osoi’s concerns, accusing state institutions of pushing poor families into deeper suffering through police harassment and expensive legal battles.
“Justice has become a privilege only for the rich. We are drowning in fines and court cases while those responsible for killings walk free,” she said.
Ms. Grace Wangari called on religious leaders to raise their voices against brutality, accusing them of remaining silent even as families grieve.
“Where are the voices of the church, the mosque, and the temple when our children are gunned down? Their silence teaches society to normalize injustice, and we refuse to accept that,” she said.
The FBI Queens emphasized that their movement is not built on destruction but on love for children, communities, and the future. The group pledged to continue peaceful resistance until justice and accountability are achieved.
