SNV, Uasin Gishu County Seal Deal to Boost Inclusive Development
The agreement sets out a framework for collaboration in inclusive entrepreneurship, regenerative agriculture and the productive use of renewable energy, with a focus on expanding opportunities for women and youth.
SNV has worked in Kenya since 1967, supporting development at both national and county levels through partnerships with government institutions, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and communities to strengthen locally led service delivery systems.
In Uasin Gishu, the organisation has implemented programmes that have improved livelihoods and strengthened local systems. These include the Investing in Young Businesses in Africa – Supporting Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Development (IYBA-SEED) programme, which supported youth- and women-led enterprises, and the Regenerative Agricultural Practices for Improved Livelihoods and Markets (REALMS) project that reached more than 8,000 smallholder farmers.
The two partners also launched the Power for Food Partnership in 2025, which integrates regenerative agriculture and renewable energy to drive inclusive investments and strengthen local leadership.
Speaking during the signing, SNV Country Director for Kenya and Burundi, Ms Rebecca Hallam, said the MoU reflects a shared commitment to inclusive growth.
“This MoU is a commitment to shared progress. By working together, we can leverage resources, knowledge and networks to create lasting impact for the people of Uasin Gishu,” said Hallam.
Under the agreement, the two parties will jointly plan, implement and review development initiatives aligned with county priorities. The MoU also emphasises gender equity and social inclusion while strengthening policy frameworks to attract investment and support farmers and MSMEs.
While the agreement does not create direct financial obligations, it provides a clear structure for future collaboration between SNV and the county government.
